Focused analysis drawn from the SITREPs: one subject, worked through, with the reports it came from linked. SITREPs say what happened in a window; briefs say what it means.
How these are made. SITREPs are LLM-generated and automated: produced by an AI model from the pipeline's open-source data and published. They are leads, not findings. Analyses are different: written by a human and signed by their author.
RWI-BRIEF-005Brief
Militia activity around Al-Watiya before the 14 Dec 2015 landing
No reported or visible fighting within ~30 km of Al-Watiya in December 2015, including 7–13 Dec. Nearest violence: a criminal kidnapping in Surman (~60 km) on 2 Dec. All 87 VIIRS detections within 90 km are industrial flares. Local fronts had cooled after the 12 Nov Warshefana–Zawiya ceasefire. Key UN and Libya Herald sources not yet reached.
Where did C-146A 11-3097 go when it flew back toward Libya from Pantelleria later on 14 Dec 2015?
Tekbali said the team was dropped "with their vehicles": on what aircraft, and whose vehicle is in the Libyan Air Force photo?
One aircraft on the record: USAF C-146A 11-3097 (N307EF), 524th SOS. Landed in the dark, on the ground at least 2.5 h, tracked north as MAGMA30 to Pantelleria (483 km), then flew back toward Libya the same day to an unreported destination. No inbound track; no other aircraft reported or visible on the base; no airstrikes anywhere in western Libya Oct 2015–Jan 2016.
Everything on the SAR parachute jump into Wainwright: eleven points that don't add up (two tails, two jump times, two headcounts, four drop zones, six hours, closer options unused, busy airspace, a release that omits the jump), the jump Hercules 130339, the RCAF that night, the rescue units, and every received position of the aircraft.
Which Hercules dropped the SAR techs at Wainwright: CC-130H 130339 (the only one transmitting, left Winnipeg 19:49 MDT) or 130325 (BorderPulse photo caption)?
When did the SAR techs jump: about 22:00 MDT (BorderPulse timeline) or just before midnight (mayor)? A 22:00 drop is about six hours after the fire hit the troops.
The open flight archive identifies CC-130H 130339 of 435 Squadron, 17 Wing Winnipeg, as the probable jump aircraft: the only CC-130H transmitting on 17–18 Oct, airborne from Winnipeg 19:49 MDT to 05:01 MDT. DND has confirmed 11 SAR techs jumped near the Wainwright hospital but has named no aircraft, time or tasking. No other military aircraft was received near Wainwright that night.
CC-130H 130339 (hex c2af27, callsign C130H339): wheels up Winnipeg 19:49 MDT 17 Oct; out of open coverage 20:16–04:45 MDT; landed Winnipeg ~05:01 MDT 18 Oct.
Falcon 7X C-GCUL (Canadian Utilities / ATCO) left Edmonton Intl 22:34 MDT for Seoul and the Philippines; no link to Wainwright shown.
Military aircraft within 600 km 17–18 Oct were all transits: USAF KC-135R, RCAF CC-130J, USAF C-17A, Belgian Falcon 7X.
CC-295 Kingfisher 295513 on the 17 Wing Winnipeg ramp 26 Oct 23:56 – 27 Oct 00:15 UTC; Winnipeg is a scheduled Kingfisher base with no stated status. Visit or new routine?
A CC-295 Kingfisher spent the evening on the 17 Wing ramp at Winnipeg, changed callsign (ATLS513 to REBL513) while parked, and left east-north-east at 00:24 UTC. National Defence lists Winnipeg as a Kingfisher base but gives a status only for Comox, so this is a lead. The Harvard IIs at Moose Jaw were routine pilot training; the Southport aircraft are contractor-registered, not RCAF.
CC-295 295513: parked 23:56–00:15 UTC, taxi 00:19, climbing through 6,475 ft at 171 kt at 00:24, about 16 km ENE of the field.
CT-156 Harvard II 156108 and 156126 airborne near 15 Wing at 00:05 UTC 27 Oct; 156119 at 19:28 UTC 26 Oct.
Also logged since 25 Oct: CC-130J 130612 at Calgary then Yellowknife (25 Oct), CC-295 295508 at Comox, CC-144 144620 over Ottawa, CP-140 140117 near Nanoose, CC-177 177702 (BOXTOP) off Ellesmere.
