Tracks

Follows of individual aircraft and vessels, started by hand when something is worth watching. Like SITREPs, but organised around the subject — one or more flights or vessels — and linked to every SITREP, brief, site and track that touches them. Numbering: RWI-TRK-NNN-DC, where D is air (A) or sea (S) and C the category.

How these are made. SITREPs are LLM-generated and automated: produced by an AI model from the pipeline's open-source data and published. They are leads, not findings. Analyses are different: written by a human and signed by their author.

HMCS Ville de Québec (FFH 332) — Den Helder, watching for departure

  • HMCS Ville de Québec (FFH 332), Halifax-class frigate · reg FFH 332 · type frigate · Royal Canadian Navy

Per MarineTraffic at 06:59 UTC on 27 Oct: moored at Den Helder, the Royal Netherlands Navy's main base, after sailing from Aberdeen on 11 Oct (arrived 13 Oct); last AIS position received 21 hours earlier. Hourly AIS watch over the North Sea (50.5–61N, 4W–12E) logs any transmission from her and will show when and where she sails. Warships often sail with AIS off, so a silent departure is possible — the next clear Sentinel-1 radar pass over Den Helder is the backup check.

HONG DA XIN 768 — container ship, Karachi to Sohar (ship test track 1)

Aborted 27 Oct 2026 04:30 MDT (10:30 UTC) — our AIS feed (aisstream.io, terrestrial receivers) has no coverage in the Arabian Sea or Gulf of Oman — the ship never appeared. Kept as the first ship test: it shows where the feed ends.
  • HONG DA XIN 768, container ship, Panama flag · type container ship

First sea track, a test of the ship-following pipeline. Per MarineTraffic at 06:56 UTC on 27 Oct: left Karachi (PK KHI) 26 Oct 17:03, bound for Sohar, Oman (OM SOH), ETA 28 Oct 18:00; 11.8 kn on course 265°, draught 10.3 m, in the Arabian Sea off the Makran coast. Followed on the free aisstream.io terrestrial AIS feed in a box from Karachi to Sohar; open-sea coverage is thin, so gaps far offshore are expected.

Unidentified King Air 200, Cambridge Bay toward Yellowknife overnight

Aborted 27 Oct 2026 04:30 MDT (10:30 UTC) — free community ADS-B feeds (adsb.lol, adsb.fi, airplanes.live) have no receivers in the Kitikmeot / western Nunavut; a control run at Toronto Pearson logged normally, so this is a coverage gap, not a fault. No positions logged; the screenshot observation is kept. The aircraft remains unidentified.
  • Beechcraft King Air 200 (BE20), no callsign, registration or ICAO address shown · type BE20

Seen on Flightradar24 at 06:53 UTC on 27 Oct: a King Air 200 from Cambridge Bay at 19,325 ft, 233 kt ground speed, track about 207°, at 64.563N 112.069W in the Edmonton FIR. Flightradar24 shows no callsign, registration, squawk or ICAO address, though the source is terrestrial ADS-B — the identity is being withheld, not missing. The line runs straight to Yellowknife (Stanton Territorial Hospital takes Kitikmeot medevacs); ETA about 07:30 UTC. Working hypothesis: medevac. Same pattern as RWI-TRK-002 into Iqaluit.

Sikorsky S-76C C-FCHZ (Custom Helicopters), Island Lake to St. Theresa Point overnight

Closed 27 Oct 2026 04:30 MDT (10:30 UTC) — identified as the Custom Helicopters S-76 flying Manitoba's Trauma Flight air ambulance — a routine medevac.
  • Sikorsky S-76C C-FCHZ (MSN 760536, 2004) · callsign TF1 · reg C-FCHZ · type S76 · Custom Helicopters

A Custom Helicopters S-76C left Island Lake (YIV) at 01:47 CDT on 27 Oct and was at St. Theresa Point, Manitoba, at 06:51 UTC (01:51 CDT) — a four-minute hop between Island Lake First Nations communities in the middle of the night. One of four unscheduled overnight civil flights in remote northern communities logged in the same hour (with RWI-TRK-002, -003, -004). Identified: callsign TF1 matches Custom Helicopters' "Trauma Flight", a dedicated Manitoba air ambulance flying S-76C+ helicopters with night-vision capability. This is an air ambulance call to St. Theresa Point, not a military or unusual flight. Kept open only to log its end point.

Pilatus PC-12 C-GKIX, Pond Inlet area to Iqaluit overnight

Aborted 27 Oct 2026 04:30 MDT (10:30 UTC) — free community ADS-B feeds (adsb.lol, adsb.fi, airplanes.live) have no receivers in Baffin Island / Nunavut; a control run at Toronto Pearson logged normally, so this is a coverage gap, not a fault. No positions logged; the screenshot observation is kept.
  • Pilatus PC-12/45 C-GKIX (MSN 291, 1999) · callsign CGKIX · reg C-GKIX · type PC12 · private owner (per Flightradar24)

A 27-year-old PC-12 listed as privately owned flew south along Baffin Island from the Pond Inlet area overnight and was landing at Iqaluit at 06:50 UTC on 27 Oct. PC-12s and King Air 200s are the workhorses of Nunavut medevac; with RWI-TRK-002 also inbound to Iqaluit, two unscheduled night arrivals from northern Baffin / Foxe Basin. Working hypothesis: medevac or charter, not military. Owner to be checked in the Transport Canada civil aircraft register.

CanWest Air Cessna 208 Caravans CWA803 and CWA805 at Fort Vermilion, overnight

Closed 27 Oct 2026 04:30 MDT (10:30 UTC) — CanWest Air night flights out of Fort Vermilion, about 700 km from Wainwright — consistent with medevac, nothing tying them to the Wainwright fire. CanWest's role at Wainwright (King Airs C-GLUR, C-GLUD, C-GLUL in the casualty airlift, 17–18 Oct) is documented separately in SITREP 013.
  • Cessna 208 Caravan, CanWest Air · callsign CWA803 · type C208 · CanWest Air
  • Cessna 208 Caravan, CanWest Air · callsign CWA805 · type C208 · CanWest Air

Two CanWest Air Caravans converged on Fort Vermilion, Alberta, around 00:45 MDT on 27 Oct: CWA805 from High Level (dep. 00:30 MDT) and CWA803 from the east (John D'Or Prairie direction). Fort Vermilion is about 700 km north-west of CFB Wainwright, not near it. CanWest Air (La Crete / Edmonton) flies charters for northern Alberta and Little Red River Cree Nation communities and air ambulance for Alberta Health Services; no military or Wainwright link found. Night Caravan flights here fit medevac or charter. The 80 km flight-archive scan around CFB Wainwright for 14–26 Oct will show whether any CanWest aircraft flew there during the fire.

Unidentified King Air B200 over Foxe Basin, no callsign or registration

Aborted 27 Oct 2026 04:30 MDT (10:30 UTC) — free community ADS-B feeds (adsb.lol, adsb.fi, airplanes.live) have no receivers in Foxe Basin / Nunavut; a control run at Toronto Pearson logged normally, so this is a coverage gap, not a fault. No positions logged; the screenshot observation is kept. Likely, not confirmed: a Keewatin Air medevac — Keewatin flies King Air B200s for Nunavut medevac and keeps a base at Igloolik (King Air magazine, Jan 2019), and the trail ran from the Igloolik / Sanirajak area straight toward Iqaluit. Identity hidden on Flightradar24.
  • Beechcraft King Air B200 (BE20), identity not broadcast · type BE20

Seen on Flightradar24 at 06:45 UTC on 27 Oct: a King Air B200 at FL190 on track 133° over Foxe Basin (about 68.7N 79.6W), with no callsign, registration or country shown, its trail starting near Sanirajak (Hall Beach) / Igloolik. The track points almost exactly at Iqaluit. Working hypothesis: an overnight Nunavut medevac flight to Iqaluit. Followed live by area until identified.
