Closed ·

CanWest Air night flights out of Fort Vermilion, about 700 km from Wainwright — consistent with medevac, nothing tying them to the Wainwright fire. CanWest's role at Wainwright (King Airs C-GLUR, C-GLUD, C-GLUL in the casualty airlift, 17–18 Oct) is documented separately in SITREP 013.

Why it is followed

Two CanWest Air Caravans converged on Fort Vermilion, Alberta, around 00:45 MDT on 27 Oct: CWA805 from High Level (dep. 00:30 MDT) and CWA803 from the east (John D'Or Prairie direction). Fort Vermilion is about 700 km north-west of CFB Wainwright, not near it. CanWest Air (La Crete / Edmonton) flies charters for northern Alberta and Little Red River Cree Nation communities and air ambulance for Alberta Health Services; no military or Wainwright link found. Night Caravan flights here fit medevac or charter. The 80 km flight-archive scan around CFB Wainwright for 14–26 Oct will show whether any CanWest aircraft flew there during the fire.
